Service Description: The current dataset represents a modified, "centerline-snapped" version of mobile-image, located set of mile posts/mile markers found along the state road system (Interstate, US, and State routes) maintained by the NMDOT. The original data represent the geographic location of the mile markers extracted with software using a set of geo-referenced, oblique, stereo images collected in conjunction with a Roadway Feature Inventory by Terracon/IMS Consulting Engineers and Services for the NMDOT. The milepost records have been filtered to remove duplicated and poorly located points. The resulting milepost data were then regenerated to be located on centerline of each route respectively at the point nearest to where each post physically exists. The current dataset consists of only ONE post record for each mile point along each UNDIVIDED route sections where data was available. For undivided route sections precedence is given to the P (positive) side milepost record, when present. Otherwise the M (minus) side milepost is used, if it is present and valid. For DIVIDED route sections TWO post records have been selected for use where they exist (one for both directions of travel). The data were collected orginally in 2001-02 with updates from 2005 and 2007; it still may contain some gaps that are currently being re-surveyed. (Note: not all attributes were available for some records due to variances in how and when the data were aquired). This dataset is NOT complete. Updates are being made regularly and will be made available as new data is received and validated.
